Monthly Standard upkeep for a 60 ft. Yacht?
There is no standard or monthly average, because there are so many variables. Power or Sail? The most significant cost are dock fees. google some sites near where you think they would be based. Like Baltimore Marine Center in Balt. MD for instance, you can see the slip rates and other cost, as well as the amenities they offer. Other marinas , say in Florida have this info on line. Then is the boat new or used, is it in great or only fair condition. boats that size come-out of the water once a year or less. Then it's bottom paint, Zincs, preventive Maintenance etc. Often in the $1,000s. Fuel is another issue. You can and often do have 2500 to 5,000 gal tanks......$3 to $4.90 a gal last year, Or if sail 100 gal a year. But more maintenance on sheets, lines, halyards. What I can tell you is, it's not for everyone, but it's a great way to retire. It's a lot less costly than paying taxes on a big house. In fact it's the least expensive way to live, I've found, even with the costly maintenancee. One final thing, most boat owners use there 60' ers a few hundred miles the first year then half that the second then even less the next few ......I know of several that haven't left the dock in sometime.......it's a shame but a fact, but as a friend says there's nothing like those nice days , like last Sunday!
