Question bout fetal heart doppler?

I have read that using a fetal heart doppler a lot can hurt the baby and the umbilical cord, is this true?!?! I listen to my babies heart beat once a week, if that, and then of course during my OB appts. If anyone has heard of this or knows anything please lemme know...Thanks!!!
