Faith, but faith in what? Does a person have a choice as to what they have faith in?

Yes. Thinking about His words, instead of just listening to some preacher, is the true sign of faith. Many christians think that Jesus said to be meek, and he did not. Someone asked him for rules (dogma) to follow, and he asked that man a QUESTION, "Be ye meek?" (are you meek?). Meek means trainable, like a dog, not teachable or free thinking. It is those who read his words, think about them, and take a leap of "faith" who understand. The meek who blindly follow have no real faith.
