Flattening image in Photoshop while maintaining layer effects?

I have an image in Photoshop CS2 that is currently saved as a psd file with numerous layers. I need to flatten the image and save it as a jpg or gif. However, whenever I flatten the image I lose the numerous font effects I've used on the different layers. Is there any way to keep those effects while saving the file to a jpg or gif???
